DESCRIPTION:Family Caregivers are free to attend! \nFamily caregivers are spouses\, relatives\, friends\, or neighbors who provide assistance related to an individual with an underlying physical or mental disability for at-home care and assist in the activities of daily living (ADLs) that are unpaid. \nA recent study says that 26.5% of all American adults today are family caregivers. \n9:00 am -9:30 am – Registration\, Vendors\, light breakfast \n9:30 am -10:00 am – Introduction\, and Elderbridge Services \n10:00 am-12:00 pm – Ethan Huizenga \n“Substitute Decision Making in Iowa” \nDuring this workshop\, attendees will be educated on appointing substitute decision makers\, including guardians\, conservators\, and powers of attorney\, and the differences between each. \n12:00 pm-1:00 pm – Lunch \n1:00 pm-3:00 pm – Dr. James Coyle \n“Caring for the Caregiver” \nDuring this workshop\, we will define what Compassion Fatigue is\, identify the signs and symptoms of Compassion Fatigue\, and offer applicable ways to treat and manage Compassion Fatigue. \n  \nIf you are seeking CEUs for this event\, please contact Iowa Lake Community College with any questions or concerns: \nChantel Teeter – cteeter@iowalakes.edu \n  \nTo register for the event contact Emily Winker: \nPhone: 800-243-0678 \nEmail: ewinker@elderbridge.org \n  \nThe cost of attendance for Professional Caregivers and Community Partners is $25 per person (lunch included) Qualifications for CEUs require attendance for all sessions. \nCost of CEUs: Nursing and Social Workers: $12 / EMS: $30 Total CEUs available: 4 \nCommunity partners of Elderbridge are welcome to attend and have a table of information at the event.
