Elderbridge Agency on Aging is a sponsor location for SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) counseling through the services of trained volunteers. The SHIIP Program was created in 1990 by the State of Iowa insurance Division for Medicare beneficiaries.
The Senior Health Insurance Information Program is available to Iowa seniors at no cost to the client. Click here for more information. SHIIP volunteer counselors are available to provide their services unbiased and without any sales pitch for products or policies. These counselors are available by appointment at Elderbridge offices in Mason City and Carroll. Counselors are especially busy during Medicare Open Enrollment which usually runs from mid-October to early December.
All SHIIP volunteers are trained in the following areas:
- Medicare Benefits, Eligibility and Claims
- Medicaid Benefits, Eligibility and Claims
- Medicare Supplements
- Medicare Advantage
- Medicare Prescription Drug Plans also known as Medicare Part D
- Long Term Care Coverage
